The Children’s Room has materials in multiple formats and in different collections to meet the special needs of your child.
• Easy-Board Book collection is for children 0 to 2, are thick, strong pages, with bright colors and few words.
• Easy Books collection is for children 1 to 6+ years old, are usually oversized with simple stories.
• Chapter Books collection for the beginner readers in 4 levels, for kids in Kindergarten to 2nd grade.
• Holidays Collection covers holidays from Christmas to Valentine’s Day.
• Parenting Collection has books the parent can read to the child that cover the tough topics from potty training, a new baby, moving, manners, feelings, dyslexia and much more. This collection includes the Just for the Military Child books.
• Juvenile Fiction and Non-fiction books for kids in grades 1 to 7 and a little older.
Pre-School Storytime is 2nd & 4th Tuesdays at 10 am. Storytime is designed for the 2 to 5 year old, with younger children & their parents welcome to participate in a Rug Time. The Storyteller reads 1 to 3 stories; afterwards, the children can do a craft related to the stories.

Sign up to attend this fun club for kids in grades K-12. The Reading Patch Club runs through May. Here’s how the Reading Patch Club work …read a book, and then write a short synopsis of the book. Get a patch for every 5 books that you read! Collect all the patches and sew them on to your jacket, backpack, cap, or make a bulletin board with your patch collection.
Kids can call the number and listen to a pre-recorded short story. Available 24/7 with a new story every Thursday morning.

The Library has special collections and resources for the military members and families, from the Chief of Staff Reading List, to Military Life Collection with materials on deployment, moving, finances, and the military lifestyle. We also have a special collection Just for the Military Child.
The Library can provide resources for units and organizations at Malmstrom. The Library purchases subscriptions, books, and online resources to support your mission. Please contact the librarian at 731-2748 or email The Library to see if your office qualifies.
The Library provides books and subscriptions to personnel at remote sites or deployed. The library also provides special services to Family Child Care Providers, Child Development Center, and the Youth Center.
READING FOR READINESS: The Airmen & Family Readiness Center and Library have the recording studio for deploying personnel to record a book for their children, for family members to record video letters to their deployed family member, or to record a Recordable Book. Contact AFRC at 731-4900 to schedule the studio.
